Nintendo Wii sales on top - 3 to 1 against PS3

Nintendo's Wii game console outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) by three-to-one in Japan in March but its DS handheld machine fell behind the PlayStation Portable for the first time in six months, according to research by gaming magazine publisher Enterbrain. Nintendo sold 265,542 units of the Wii in the five weeks to March 30, compared with 81,579 units of the PS3.

Nintendo's Wii Play was in third place with 289 700 copies followed by the Wii version of Activision's Guitar Hero III which sold 222 900 copies. Sega's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo DS moved 205 600 copies to end in sixth place and Microsoft's Lost Odyssey for the 360 landed in seventh with 203 600 copies.
