Mario Kart for Wii Atlast Available in Europe

Yesterday was a good day for most of us Europeans as we all (hopefully) got to grips with the latest in the Mario Kart series and Nintendo's new "Wii-Wheel" controller extension.

With (what I deem to be) the first major Nintendo Wii title to feature online gaming (and let me tell you now - it works very well) I thought it was prime time for the members of NintendoLife.com to get togther and share their (annoyingly long) friend codes for the game.

I see from the Wikipedia page on the game that it will be released later this month in Australia and North America. When it does, run to the shop and buy it.

The Wii remote fits into the plastic wheel that comes with the game and works pretty well. It’s not required though as you can just as easily hold the Wii remote without the wheel. Extra steering wheels are reasonably priced at around €10, even if it probably cost Nintendo a fraction of that to make ‘em…

New Mario Game - Mario Super Sluggers Comming up

Nintendo of America today revealed the first details on Mario Super Sluggers (Wii), the latest sports title to star Mario and what Nintendo referred to as "his unpredictable pals."

Do Fire Flowers count as performance-enhancing?

Mario Super Sluggers – a Mario Superstar Baseball (GCN) sequel slated to hit Japan this June – is also headed stateside later this year. While the details on this upcoming Wii title are still somewhat sketchy at the moment, we do know that Nintendo is hoping the game will provide the next step for the expanded audience brought in by Wii Sports, offering the same simple, motion-based controls, as well as Mii support (in addition to a gaggle of returning characters). Apart from that, all we have is the official statement from Nintendo below:

The ongoing excitement over Nintendo’s groundbreaking Wii system gets a suprise springtime boost with the announcement of a new game. Kicking off its semiannual media summit in San Francisco near the company’s new sales and marketing offices in Redwood City, California, Nintendo of America today revealed plans for Mario Super Sluggers for Wii, giving baseball fans even more reason to root this season.
“Mario is truly a one-of-a-king character; clearly fans can’t get enough of him and his friends,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our series of active-play games.”

In the same spirit as other sports-themed Mario games on Wii like Mario Strikers Charged and Mario Kart Wii, Mario Super Sluggers blends richly interactive baseball action with eccentric characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe. Players can swing the wireless Wiimote just like a bat or wave it toward the plate to deliver a masterful pitch, enjoying the same intuitive, easy-to-learn controls that helped make Wii Sports a living room hit. With Mario and his unpredictable pals filling out the roster, imagination and active-play innovation are sure to dominate the diamond in this lively title, scheduled for release later this year.

New fun Wii Game - Battle of the Bands

"B
attle of the Bands" for Nintendo Wii - a music games simular to "Guitar Hero" and "rock Band" but with a Twist.

Battle of the Bands is the first time a musical mashup game has been delivered on Wii, allowing players to battle it out with their preferred musical style. The game features both an exciting two player versus mode and an extensive single-player campaign where players take on the role of one of eleven bands trying to topple the nefarious big boss Mr. Battle of the Bands is the first time a musical "mashup" game has been delivered on Wii, allowing players to battle it out with their preferred musical style. Battle of the Bands features both an exciting two player versus mode and an extensive single-player campaign where players take on the role of one of eleven bands trying to topple the nefarious big boss Mr. Battle of the Bands is Newcastle's Union's response to the excellent local music scene. We want to showcase the range of talent and build a relati
onship with local artists, offering them a stage, an audience .and a $300 prize.

Battle of the Bands is one such title throwing its hat into the ring. What Battle of the Bands does differently is it does not use any special peripheral; it relies on the Wii remote’s motion sensing technology instead.

The game, which is rated "T" for Teen and will ship with about 30 songs, lets whoever's leading the head-to-head match choose which of five genres these popular songs will be played in: rock, hip-hop, country, Latin, and marching band.

Can "Battle of the Bands" carve out its own niche along side other music heavyweights like "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band." we'll find out when it launches next month for about $50.

Sam & Max Confirmed for Nintendo Wii

After almost a year of teasing gamers around the world, it seems that the fan support has clearly paid off since Telltale Games has at long last confirmed that it will be bringing its immensely popular Sam & Max: Season One to Wii later in 2008.
Despite Telltale Games talking several times about how it prefers to go down the route of episodic content, as illustrated with its Sam & Max games released on the PC so far, obviously the strong performance of recent release ‘CSI: Hard Evidence’ from Ubisoft has given the company the nudge required to turn out its adventure series on Wii as a full retail release instead.

All the comments from the developer have pointed to Sam & Max eventually coming to Wii at some point, but it is only now that Gamespot has been allowed to break the official story. However, JoWood Productions actually released a Press Release piece a month or so ago confirming the project, so we all knew about its existence in Europe at least, anyway.
As Gamespot states:
“Telltale Games is hoping to stoke the Sam and Max resurgence even further. Today, the developer confirmed for GameSpot long-standing rumours that it would be bringing its episodic series to consoles, and specifically to the Nintendo Wii. The canine-lagomorph combo’s début on Nintendo’s console will come in the form of a port of the PC first-season compilation, from pilot episode “Culture Shock” through to “Bright Side of the Moon.” Telltale representatives said the game’s release on the Wii is due in large part to fan demand, in particular an e-mail campaign launched prior to the début of the Sam & Max episodic series on the PC. Rumours and speculation of a Wii port helped spark publisher interest in bringing the series to Nintendo’s platform.”

Sam & Max: Season One is due to be published over in North America by Dreamcatcher and The Adventure Company, just as with Agatha Christie’s And Then There None on Wii, whilst over in Europe it is none other than JoWood Productions, as per the original Press Release for a couple of months back. For Europe there will be added French and German voice-overs, as well as Italian and Spanish subtitles. Gamers can expect to get their hands on this tasty Wii project in the Autumn time in both territories.
For those unaware of the details surrounding Season One, below is a synopsis of the storyline, courtesy of Wikipedia:
“The overarching theme of this season is hypnosis. In Culture Shock, Brady Culture is hypnotising the Soda Poppers. In Situation: Comedy, Myra has been hypnotised by the villains of episode 3, the Toy Mafia. And in episode 4, it seems that the Toy Mafia was merely one piece of an overarching plot by someone who has infiltrated the U.S. Government. This “person” is revealed in episode 5 to be The Internet itself who, it seems, was only a puppet of the true mastermind - Hugh Bliss, who has been attempting to hypnotise the entire world into becoming followers of the Prismatology cult. The cult itself being a parody of Scientology, with Prismatology primary theology based on Emetics a parody of Dianetics. In episode 6, the last episode of Season One, Sam and Max confront Hugh Bliss himself, who happens to actually be a colony of bacteria that feeds on “true bliss”.”
Stick around for further updates here on Nintendic…
